Artiste talks his music, influences and upcoming project

Meet singer and rapper Abbey who shares his musical influences, type of sound and upcoming work with Pulse.

How would you describe your sound /what you do to people you haven't heard before?                                                                                                                                                 

My sound is rare and different. I sing, write and rap. My music is more of spiritual, soulful and reflective.

Who are your influences.

My influences are Fela kuti, Bob Marley, Lucky Dube, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Tupac, Nas, Michael Jackson.

What is some advice that has stuck with you.

Don't rest on your laurels, Always want to improve, get and do better.

What do you hope people take away from listening to your music

I hope people understand that music is an art which is about expressing not impressing. so I would want people to separate art from the artist. I'm an artist who simply expresses by painting, narrating and illustrating through this art form called music.

Tell us about a new project you are working on

My new project is all about versatility and is inspired by my environment.
