Minister says Muslims are not behind bombings

The Federal Minister of Interior, Abba Moro,has revealed that he does not believe that Muslims are behind the continual bombings in the northern part of the country.

Abba Moro said that contrary to the beliefs of many, the Boko Haram militants are not Islamic faithful and said Nigerians should look beyond religion as a reason for the prolonged insurgency in the country.

Citing the recent bomb blast outside a mosque in Kano, the Minister of Interior said that the militants are after all Nigerians irrespective of their religion.

“Contrary to insinuations in some quarters about the religious coloration of the insurgency; this latest bomb blast at the Central mosque goes to show that the suicide bombers are not necessarily true adherence of Islam. We all know that the mosque is a well-known place for worshippers and believers of Islam; and so, it means that Nigerians will have to look a little beyond religion, a little beyond the mundane to locate the real causes of the insurgency,” Abba Moro said during the Peoples Democratic Party, House of Assembly Congresses at the Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State.
