The Manchester City striker scored from close range, marking his fifth goal of the tournament. This historic strike secured Norway's first-ever knockout stage victory at a World Cup.

In a tightly contested first half that took its time to ignite, Antonio Nusa put Norway ahead six minutes before the break. Ivory Coast's super-sub, Amad Diallo of Manchester United, immediately made his presence felt, first preventing a second Norwegian goal before brilliantly leveling the score himself.

The match appeared destined for extra time, but Haaland emphatically had other plans. Patrick Berg delivered a superb pass into the box, leaving the prolific striker with no trouble slotting the ball home.

Norway will now face five-time champions Brazil in the Round of 16 in New Jersey. Norwegian captain Martin Ødegaard expressed confidence, stating that with the Man City forward, they always have a chance.

"Playing Brazil at the World Cup is as big as it gets. It's amazing to have Haaland in the team; we're lucky to have him, and it's all about creating as many chances for him as possible," explained the midfielder, who will go head-to-head with Arsenal teammates Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli.

Diallo admitted that Ivory Coast gifted their opponents the win by failing to contain Haaland in the penalty area. The attacking powerhouse has now scored in each of his last 13 competitive international matches, tallying an incredible 25 goals.

"When you leave him alone, you pay the price. We're a bit disappointed because we thought we could advance further. However, we're also proud of ourselves for achieving something that perhaps previous generations couldn't," added the 23-year-old.
