Portugal's elimination from the 2026 World Cup at the hands of Spain (0-1) in the Round of 16 has sparked a flurry of memes across the internet, with Cristiano Ronaldo often the main target of social media jest.
Capitalizing on Portugal's defeat and another goalless game for the national team captain, Ryanair wasted no time. Immediately after the Iberian clash, the airline posted a comparison between the seven goals scored by Messi, Mbappé, and Haaland, and... Ronaldo's jersey number.
"Messi – 7 goals; Mbappé – 7 goals; Haaland – 7 goals; CR – 7," read the official page of the Irish airline, known for playfully mocking celebrities – Ronaldo and Arsenal being frequent targets – and even their own customers.
It's worth noting that the 41-year-old forward concluded the FIFA tournament with three goals: a brace in Portugal's 5-0 group stage victory over Uzbekistan, and a goal against Croatia (2-1) in the Round of 32.
