With the loss and Chad withdrawal from the qualifiers, the Super Eagles have been eliminated from the race to reach 2017.

Chad pulled out the qualifiers citing financial difficulties and according to CAF rules, Group G can only have one qualifier.

The NFF according to a statement released have said their lawyers are looking at the propriety of changing the rules.

“It is rather unfortunate that Chad, one of the teams in the qualification group, suddenly pulled out of the race, leaving only three teams left in the group, and only the winner of the group guaranteed qualification,” part of the official statement reads.

“This appeared to have taken away our worst –case scenario of qualification.

“However, our legal unit is looking at the propriety of changing the rules midstream.”

The president of the NFF Amaju Pinnick has also responded to calls for him to resign following Super Eagles failure to qualify for the tournament.

Pinnick said he must complete his four-year tenure as boss of the NFF before leaving.
