The Black Queens of Ghana on Friday, December 2 on the third place match after beating South Africa 1-0.
Ghana lost 1-0 to Cameroon in the semi-finals while South Africa fell to Nigeria by the same score line.
At the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde, defender Linda Eshun netted the only goal early in the second half to hand Ghana third place.
This is their third time the Black Queens will be finishing in third place. They have also finished second place in the AWCON.
The Banyana Banyana missed lots of chances in the first half and were unlucky not to take the lead.
Midfielder Refiloe Jane headed wide on 22 minutes from close range while Andisiwe Mgcoyi failed to beat Ghana goalkeeper Patricia Mantey in the 30th minute.
South Africa suffered a blow as they lost their central defender Bambanani Mbane.
They were stunned just three minutes into the second half when Eshun scrambled home from a corner to give the Ghanaians a lead.
The South Africans had some good chances to level but the Ghanaians held on to win the game.
