Internet body plans fair, exhibition for 10th year anniversary

NiRA accredited registrars, resellers, website, application developers and some stakeholders will be showcasing at the fair which will take place at the NiRA Office Complex

NiRA reveals 33,572 .ng domain names have been registered in Nigeria for 2015

On the 28th of March, 2016, the Nigeria internet Registration Association (NIRA) will be 10 years old. According to the Association, the milestone calls for celebration, and a couple of activities have been planned as part of the celebrations.

One of such activities lined up is the “NiRA Fair Exhibition and Showcase of the DNS Industry”.

NiRA accredited registrars, resellers, website, application developers and some stakeholders will be showcasing at the fair which will take place at the NiRA Office Complex, 8, Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere, Lagos at 9am prompt. Nigeria CommunicationsWeek reports that .ng registration and hosting will be offered at a promotional rate both online and offline on the day.

Other activities planned for celebrating NiRA's tenth year anniversary include the following:

4th March 2016: Africa DNS Forum/ICANN Meeting Morocco - NIRA will be a part of the meeting and sponsoring two of its accredited registrars (based on registration activities). The two registrars have been selected and NiRa will sponsor both of them to the meeting in Morocco.

12th March 2016: NIRA Fair & Exhibition - NiRA Office Complex, Lagos - Exhibiting at the NiRA fair is free.

19th March 2016: Youth Empowerment Seminar at Muson Center, Lagos. The Honourable Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, is expected to declare the program open. He'll be accompanied by the DG of NITDA.

28th March 2016: Social Media Commemorative Activities - All activities on this day will be online.

2nd April 2016: .ng 10th Anniversary Gala & Awards Night - The event is scheduled to take place at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. Planned activities for the gala include the NiRA Internet Awards; Conferment of .ng Ambassadors (Nollywood); Social Medial Commemorative Awards and NIRA Presidential Awards
