Mobile application starts cashless payment option

Rocket Internet’s transport service, Easy Taxi, is about to launch an in-app cashless payment option – Easy Taxi Pay (ET Pay).

Easy Taxi

Uber, a popular transport company, should be very afraid as their major rival, Easy Taxi, is about to start a cashless payment plan called ET Pay works, which is very reminiscent of the payment option used in Uber.

Using ET Pay customers simply add their credit/debit card details, request for a taxi and pay for a ride by clicking payment and selecting the ET Pay option.

The application can store multiple credit/debit card details at one time, giving the customer the option to choose which card they would like to use to charge their ride with each request.

After each ride, customers get a detailed summary of the payment information for the just concluded ride, via email.

With this new payment method, customers using Easy Taxi will now have an alternative payment option asides paying directly to the driver.

Of course, being required to enter your debit/credit card details raises safety and security questions, so Easy Taxi is working with Adyen, an Amsterdam based payment services company, to process the credit and debit transactions, Adyen is a licensed acquirer of Visa and MasterCard.

ET Pay will first be deployed in Kenya and as part of the official Easy Taxi Pay launch; Easy Taxi is offering its Kenyan passengers Ksh 500 off their first ET Pay ride.

To redeem this; on completion of your ride, while verifying mode of payment, select the option for “Add promo code” and type ‘ETPLAUNCH’ into the field. 500 Shillings will automatically be deducted from the cost of the ride, this promotion is valid all through the month of March and will expire April 1, at 12:00am.

The ET Pay payment option will make its way to countries that have Easy Taxi, including Nigeria, this year.
