APC candidate threatens to sue AIT, NTA

Buhari also stated that the networks must retract the “hate documentaries” and issue a public apology to him to prevent legal action.

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari has threatened to sue the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Africa Independent Television (AIT) for airing hate broadcasts against him.

The position of the former Head of State was conveyed in a protest letter lodged by the Legal Director of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Chukwuma-Machukwu Ume.

“The hate broadcast has been on from Saturday, January 24, 2015 to Sunday, January 25, 2015, at 11p.m. in AIT,” the letter stated.

Buhari also said that he had petitioned the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) asking them to investigate both NTA and AIT and take necessary punitive measures.
