Senator calls Yahaya Bello 'Olodo governor' on Twitter

The lawmaker said the governor paid thugs N10 million to stop the transportation of bags of rice into the state.

In a series of tweets on his Twitter account on Friday, October 27, 2017, the lawmaker said the governor paid the thugs N10 million to stop the transportation of bags of rice into the state by blocking the entry into Lokoja from Abuja.

He posted, "Another 10 million naira Kogi State money wasted by Yahaya Bello who was deceived to believe that the rice donated by the senate is on its way to Lokoja this morning.

"10 million was then released to thugs to stop the rice from coming into Lokoja and to also disparage SDM. Hahahaha Double wahala for dead body and the owner of dead body. Olodo governor. - Dino Melaye"

Senator Melaye had announced on Wednesday, October 25, that 40 Senators had donated 1,260 bags of rice to Kogi civil servants as part of efforts to ease the sufferings of workers in the state after Governor Bello was accused of owing workers over twelve-month salaries.

Melaye had also urged Senate President Bukola Saraki to seek an audience with President Muhammadu Buhari on the issue of non-payment of salaries by the Kogi state government.

He said, "Nigeria Labour Congress had appealed to Nigerians to please give materials to civil servants in kogi state because they have been declared as Internally Displaced Person. They also said that there is going to be a massive procession in Kogi state.

"This has made the state become ungovernable. Mr. President, you should not only intervene but see President Muhammadu Buhari on the calamitous situation in Kogi state."
