The Lagos State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ikeja on Thursday fixed Sept. 18 for judgment on the petition of the Lagos West Senatorial candidate of the PDP, Mr Segun Adewale.

The counsel argued that the petitioner failed to prove the allegations against the respondents beyond reasonable doubt.

Adewale was the candidate of the PDP in the March 28 Lagos West Senatorial District Election in which the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr Solomon Adeola, was declared winner by INEC.
The PDP candidate, dissatisfied with the outcome, is seeking to upturn the election result at the tribunal and wants to be declared winner.
The head of the three-man tribunal, Justice Sylvanus Oriji, adjourned the case for judgment on Thursday after listening to the submissions of the counsel of the parties.
"Having listened to the submissions of the parties’ lawyers and their final written addresses, I hereby adjourn this case till Sept. 18 for judgment,’’ Oriji said.
Earlier, counsel to Adewale, Dr Yemi Oke had told the tribunal that the nomination of the APC candidate for the poll was invalid.
However, the counsel to Adeola and the APC, Dr Muiz Banire, urged the court to dismiss Adewale's petition.
Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr A . Adegoke, had also urged the court to dismiss the petition.
