Benue Rep begs PDP to reverse suspension of Elumelu, others

Hon. Agbo says Elumelu remains the preferred candidate of minority members in the House.

Hon. Francis Ottah Agbo had promised to donate his salary to orphans and widows in his constituency.

The member representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Francis Agbo, has urged the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rescind its decision to suspend Ndudi Elumelu and six other lawmakers over the minority principal officers positions in the green chamber.

The PDP had nominated Kingsley Chinda as Minority Leader, Chukwuka Onyema as Deputy Minority Leader, Yakubu Barde as Minority Whip and Muraina Ajibola as Deputy Minority Whip.

Agbo, who is spokesperson of minority parties in the House, said the nomination of Elumelu and others was done in accordance to the wishes of the majority of members of the opposition parties.

Agbo stated while receiving members of the National Assembly Benue Journalists Forum in his office on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. The delegation was led by Solomon Ayado.

He noted that the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and are most capable of leading the 9th National Assembly to permanent stability.

Agbo stated that the legislative leaders are the right choice of President Muhammadu Buhari adding that there will be "no more excuses by the executive to reject bills" passed by the legislature.

According to Agbo, the choice of Lawan and Gbajabiamila will bring the needed peace and harmony among lawmakers which, he said, will promote the swift passage of bills to enhance rapid development in the country.

Agbo further revealed of his legislative plans to attract viable projects to his constituents which include rural electrification, coal and mining and empowerment of the less privileged persons, among others.
