Party blasts Ekweremadu, Fayose

This is coming on the heels of the arrest of the PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The All Progressives Congress (APC), has reacted to statements credited to the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose.

The Deputy Senate President had accused President Buhari of trying to silent the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While Fayose accused Mr. President of fighting a selective anti-corruption war.

Leadership Newspapers reports that the APC Assisant Director of Publicity, Mr. Edegbe Odemwingie wondered why the PDP chieftains were against Buhari’s war on corruption.

APC said in a statement “The All Progressives Congress (APC) is aware of the intensified orchestrated attacks by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their agents on the hugely successful war against corruption being waged by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.”

Also, the APC National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni, said “the party is also aware of the plot by the PDP and their agents to stampede and blackmail anti-corruption agencies over ongoing corruption cases being investigated.

“In three orchestrated press statements issued on Friday, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose among others alleged plans by the APC and President Buhari’s administration to silence the opposition through a selective anti-corruption fight. Also, the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus on Friday accused the APC of attempting to turn the country into a one party state.”

Adding that “The APC urges anti-corruption agencies not to be distracted by these syndicated and coordinated attacks and continue to employ all legal and legitimate avenues to bring to book all looters of our common wealth.”

This is coming on the heels of the arrest of the PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC allegedly traced the sum of N1.4 billion to a company linked to Metuh.
