The speaker said he heaved a sigh of relief quitting APC and he remains the happiest leaving the APC for good.

Ahmad expressed his delight with a tweet on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 saying he is the happiest of all public office holders that dumped the ruling party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
"Today, as I and other members of the Kwara State House of Assembly dump the APC for good, I heaved a sigh of relief. In 2014, I was terribly sad leaving PDP reluctantly with 36 other members of the House of Representatives. Today, I am the happiest leaving the APC for good," Ahmad tweeted.
Ahmad defected to the PDP along with the Kwara state governor, Abdulfatai Ahmed and Senate president, Bukola Saraki.
The politicians announced their exit from the APC to PDP on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 amidst crises in the ruling party.
23 Kwara APC lawmakers defect to PDP
23 members of the 24-member Kwara House of Assembly, including all principal officers on Wednesday defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The defection, according to Speaker of the assembly, Dr Ali Ahmad, during plenary was conveyed in a letter written to the House by the Majority Leader, Mr Hassan Oyeleke, on behalf of concerned members.
All the defected members were in the APC and the only member remaining in the party is Saheed Popoola, representing Ojomu-Balogun Constituency in Offa Local Government Area.
Each of the 23 members, including the speaker, signed the letter of the defection.
