Company stops Nigerian operations, due to $575m owed by FG

The American company cited the inability to collect the money it made from ticket sales and the unavailability of aviation fuel as one of its reasons.

Vanguard reports that the International Air Transport Association (IATA) revealed that Nigeria owes airlines $575 million in air fares.

According to Sahara Reports the Airline’s last flight will come in from Houston on June 29, 2016, and depart Nigeria on June 30, 2016.

This was also confirmed by United Airline, on their Twitter handle, in a conversation with a concerned Nigerian, @royaltyuso who sought to get a confirmation from the company.

Industry watchers say the airline’s decision to pull-out, is a clear indication of the state of the economic atmosphere of Nigeria.
