‘Maiduguri is safer than Lagos,’ Borno governor says
Borno has suffered the worst of the Boko Haram insurgency which has led to the deaths of thousands of people.
Shettima said further that Maiduguri is safer than Abuja and most other state capitals in the country.
The governor made the comments on Tuesday, December 7, while speaking to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were deployed to the state.
“With all sense of responsibility and honesty, am saying that the worst in Maiduguri is over. Borno is now on the path to sustainable peace,” he said.
“Maiduguri is now safe even more than Lagos, Abuja and many other state capitals in Nigeria,” he added.
