Senate President attends trial with 90 lawyers, 12 senators

The 90 lawyers were introduced by Saraki’s lead counsel Kanu Agabi. The Senate President had appeared with 51 lawyers on Tuesday.

Saraki’s trial commenced on Tuesday, April 5, despite an attempt by his lawyers to stall it with an adjournment.

The 90 lawyers were introduced by Saraki’s lead counsel, Kanu Agabi. The Senate President had appeared with 51 lawyers on Tuesday.

Some of the senators who accompanied Saraki to the trial are Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Sam Anyanwu, Dino Melaye and Andy Uba.

The number of Saraki’s senator-escorts has reduced drastically since his appearance at the CCT with 81 of his colleagues in 2015.

The Senate President is facing charges of asset declaration fraud before the CCT. Meanwhile, Saraki has said that he is happy about the commencement of his trial.
