Nigeria will begin production of Pencils in 2 years - Minister says

He assured that his ministry would ensure PRODA gets necessary support to actualise the project.

The minister of science and technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, has reportedly announced that Nigeria will begin to manufacture pencils in two years.

He was said to have stated this  a facility tour of Projects Development Institute (PRODA) in Enugu state. He said over  400,000 jobs will be created when the project kicks off, which in line the vision of the current administration.

Onu was quoted to have said: “It is unthinkable that 55 years after independence, Nigeria is still not producing pencils when we have the human and material resources in the country.

“PRODA has to produce pencils for Nigeria and they have given me the assurance that this can be done and that with pencil manufacture here, we will be creating 400,000 new jobs.
