Anambra Governor says his life is in danger

The Governor said that his security aides have been withdrawn, adding his life has been exposed to threats.

Obiano said this during the stakeholders meeting organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the governorship election in Anambra.

He said “I want my security details returned immediately because I am going to start a fight from there. I am the governor of Anambra State and all the paraphernalia of my office must be there.

“This is unacceptable and a sign of what will happen. Those behind this would be disappointed because we are very ready for this election.”

Police IG replies Obiano

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, issued a statement explaining why Governor Obiano’s security aide was withdrawn.

Idris said the Obiano's security personnel were withdrawn due to the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

The Police IG gave the explanation on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, during Election Stakeholders' Forum organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) held in Awka, the state capital.
