Kanu was arrested at a hotel in Lagos on October 17, and reportedly granted bail but was never freed.
His continued detention has led to protests in Nigeria’s eastern region as his supporters have taken to the streets to demand his release.
Kanu is being charged with criminal conspiracy, managing and belonging to an unlawful society and criminal intimidation.
