Kanu’s family further said that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader is on a divine assignment.

The comments were made via a statement released by Prince Emmanuel Kanu. It reads:

“They must allow Biafra to become an independent state. They arrested the anointed man of God, Mazi Kanu who was sent to come and liberate the people of Biafra and think they will go scot free, they do not know that his emergence is divine.”

“The present administration will prolong Nigerians’ suffering unless the government and her security agents stop spilling the blood of Biafrans and release our brother, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other members of IPOB, detained illegally.”

Kanu has been in detention since October 2015 and is facing charges of treason over his activities as the Director of Radio Biafra.
