Ozo-Eson also called on the leadership of the House of Representatives to stop the purchase of the vehicles.

NLC President, Mr. Ayuba Wabba

The labour unions said the legislators’ decision to purchase the cars at this time, shows how insensitive they are to the plight of Nigerians.

This is coming on the heels of a report that the House of Representatives has received the first batch of the vehicles.

The General Secretary of the NLC,  Peter Ozo-Eson also called on the leadership of the House to cancel the deal.

Ozo-Eson said it is not right for the lawmakers to spend such huge amount of money in the midst of a harsh economic climate.

According to the Executive Director, Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), Ibuchukwu Ezike, “…It is not today that we have begun to see the insensitivity of the leaders of this country and that was captured in the statement by the former British Prime Minister, David Cameron, saying that Nigeria is fantastically corrupt and when recently Donald Trump made his own statement about Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, the Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara urged Nigerians to exploit the opportunities provided by the current economic recession to become self-reliant.
