Presidency says oil companies are negotiating for FG

The FG is reportedly making use of efforts of the the oil companies and law enforcement to reach out to the militants.

 

According to a report by TheCable, a statement from the Presidency revealed that the Federal Government is making use of efforts of the the oil companies and law enforcement to reach out to the militants.

It was further reported that the statement which was released by Presidential spokesman, ‎Garba Shehu, disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari's administration is “talking with Niger Delta militants through oil companies and law enforcement agencies”, to find a lasting solution to insecurity in the region.

Shehu reportedly made the statement at the state house while speaking at a farewell audience with Michael Zinner, the outgoing ambassador of Germany to Nigeria.

Garba was reported to have unveiled that the president said that the government was studying the instruments of the amnesty programme inherited from the previous administration, with a view to carrying out commitments made that were undelivered.
