Former Vice President's home raided by security operatives

The search reportedly lasted for two hours as the perimeter around the house was blocked off by the operatives.

Former Vice President Namadi Sambo

The team of policemen and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) were led by officials of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission to Sambo's residence on No 1, Alimi Road.

The search reportedly lasted for two hours as the perimeter around the house was blocked off by the operatives who, according to the Vanguard, were aggressive.

The operatives were said to have been searching the building for documents and cash, with an artisan reportedly accompanying them on the raid to search the ceilings.

The Punch reports that the raid was the fifth time the property would be searched in three months.

According to Sambo’s media aide, Mallam Umar Sani, the operatives didn't find anything on the property.

The former Vice President under former President Goodluck Jonathan has been under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for links to some illegal cash disbursements in the lead up to the 2015 presidential elections.
