AGF reportedly meets Buhari over probe of top govt officials

It was also reported that Malami had sought clarification on the directive by the president to investigate officials fingered for corruption.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, Abubakar Malami has met with President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed doors on Monday, December 19, 2016.

In a report by ThisDay, the meeting which held behind closed doors, is believed to have been motivated by the directive to probe top government officials in the Buhari led administration.

It was also reported that Malami had sought clarification on the directive by the president for his office to carry out a well detailed on officials fingered for corruption.

The report further said sources confirmed the purpose of Malami's meeting as deliberation on on the directive to investigate top government officials alleged to have engaged in corrupt acts.

However, the minister did not answer questions from State House correspondents after his meeting with the president.

Two top members of Buhari's administration, EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu and SGF, Babachir David Lawal have been indicted for different corrupt practices.

While the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, has been indicted by the DSS for corruption and leading a double life, a Senate report on the humanitarian crisis in the North East indicted the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir David Lawal, for awarding a weed clearing contract to his firm, Rholavision.
