10 new cases of disease from a single family in Bauchi
Gamawa revealed that the outbreak started from a 78-year-old man who died without seeking medical treatment and infected nine of his family members.

He added that investigations reveals that the virus was contacted from , the area some cases were found in November 2015.
“Investigations revealed that the deceased contracted the virus from Liman Katagum, where some cases of Lassa Fever were found in November last year.
“The victim was put on traditional treatment from patent medicine stores for a number of days before he died. 10 persons contacted the virus and samples of their blood were taken to Irrua laboratory in Edo State, where they were confirmed positive.
"They are now on admission at the state isolation centre of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching hospital, Bauchi.”
Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, governor of Bauchi state has recently approved the construction of a centre for infectious diseases with standard equipment in Bayera Hospital, Bauchi state.
Gamawa also added that since November 2015, Bauchi state has recorded 21 cases.
