IPOB accused the DSS of arresting Justice Ademola Adeniyi because he granted bail to the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

IPOB made its comments via a statement issued by spokesman, Emma Powerful. The statement reads in part:

“The leader of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide is now one year in detention illegally while the courts of competent jurisdiction granted him unconditional release on 16th and 17th December 2015 by magistrate and Federal High Court Abuja but since then till now the federal government, APC and the DSS are still holding him and others in prison custody.”

“The chief judge Ademola who granted the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditional release on the 17th December 2015 has been under threat since last year and he is still under threat by DSS now in Abuja with other chief judges who were bent to redeem the image of the judiciary by declaring that the case concerning Nnamdi Kanu is not a treasonable offence.”

The DSS arrested the judges between Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8, in an operation in which the sum of $800,000 was recovered.

The judges have been released on bail.
