Civil Defence officer shoots 18-year-old boy dead over fuel
Report said the officers took off in their patrol van immediately after the shooting, leaving the boy in the pool of his own blood.

It was gathered the boy had bought fuel in Jerry cans at the Forte Oil on 21 Road, Festac town and was heading home when a team of civil defence officers trailed and arrested him.
According to eyewitnesses, the boy prostrated on the road, begging the officers and explaining that he was not a fuel hawker, but the the team Commander, whom report said thought the boy was resisting arrest ordered a female officer to shoot the “Bastard” - which she did.
According to Guardian, Officers of the enhanced military patrol tagged ‘OP Mesa’ and the Nigeria Police led by the FESTAC Police Station Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Monday Agbonika arrived shortly after the incident to curtail the angry mob.
The infuriated sympathisers were said to have attempted to set the filling station and some petrol tankers ablaze but were prevented by the security operatives.
“Why should they kill the boy? I think, the Civil Defence corps doesn’t know when to use firearms. They don’t even have regulation on firearms usage,” an unidentified senior police was quoted to have said.
The incident was confirmed by the Lagos State police command spokesman, Dolapo Badmos, who disclosed that apart from the deceased three other persons were severely injured.
