EFCC arrests Ebonyi House Speaker over alleged N60m fraud

The operatives of the EFCC picked him up today, March 4, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu State.

 

The operatives of the EFCC picked him up today, March 4, at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu State, at about 11a.m after he had shunned two previous invitations by the agency.

Nwaifuru, who is representing Izzi West state constituency in the Ebonyi State Assembly, allegedly diverted and misappropriated the fund before he emerged speaker.

He was still undergoing interrogation as at the time of filling this report.

According to the EFCC, the lawmaker was first invited on October 20, 2015 to appear before the Enugu zonal office of the commission but failed to honour the invitation.

The agency said it sent the lawmaker a reminder letter on November 19, 2015, which he also shunned.
