A 51-year-old husband, Mr Imole-Ayo Sunday on Monday approached an Ado-Ekiti Customary Court seeking dissolution of his 28-year-old marriage to his wife, Funmise.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sunday is seeking the dissolution on grounds of frequent fighting, adultery, public disgrace and threats to life.

Sunday, father of two said that his wife always disgraced him in the public and they always engaged in public fight.According to him, his wife threatened to destroy his life.

But the respondent, Funmise, 41, said that her husband abandoned her for nine years without considering her and the children. She said that for the period of the nine years, she had been responsible for the children upkeep.

She told the court that her husband abandoned them to live with his first wife. Funmise said that though she heard that her husband built a house without her knowledge, but his first wife did not allow her and the children to move in with them.

The President of the Court, Mr Joseph Ogunsemi advised both parties to seek for amicably settlement. He adjourned the case to Sept. 1 for progress report on the settlement or hearing.
