Kidnapped corps member, Becky Godfrey

The victims were said to be on a bus travelling to Bayelsa State when they were ambushed on Okene-Auchi Road.

It was reported that one of the gunmen,  who was in a police uniform, flagged down the bus - and as the driver stopped, the rest of the kidnappers came out of a bush and whisked Becky and three other passengers away, leaving the driver and other occupants behind.

It was gathered that the corps member, who is serving in the Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, was travelling back to her place of primary assignment to sign a clearance form for her monthly allowance when the attack occurred.

The driver was said to have reported the incident at the Okene Police Division.

According to Punch, hours after the abduction, the kidnappers called Becky's father, Braima Godfrey, on the phone, demanding N5 million in ransom.

"They said I should bring N5m. I bargained with them on Monday, but they did not agree. I called them more than 20 times, but they insisted on N5m. I called them again this morning (Tuesday), they were adamant," Braima told the newspaper.

However, the police were able to rescue Becky and other victims on Tuesday, April 4.
