3 female suicide bombers die as explosives detonate prematurely

The would-be attackers were said to have died in the Konduga area of the state on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, while making their way to Maiduguri, the state capital.

 

Three female suicide bombers have died in Borno State after the explosive devices they were carrying detonated before they reached their intended destination.

The incident was confirmed on Wednesday, June 10, by the State Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Opadokun during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

“Three suspected female suicide bombers died in Konduga Local Government Area, about 18 kilometres to Maiduguri on Tuesday when the IEDs strapped to their bodies detonated on their way to the Borno state capital. All the three suicide bombers were killed and no other casualty was recorded,” he said.

Opadokun also said that another blast had occurred along the Baga/Monguno Highway in the state.

He however did not give details on the second explosion.
