19 dead, 25 injured in blast

The casualty figure for the explosion was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Fwaji Atajri

25 people have also been severely injured in the explosion which occurred at the Dukku motor park.

The casualty figure was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Fwaji Atajri who said:

“There were security checks at the park but it was unfortunate that the perpetrators were able to penetrate. We are calling on the general public with useful information on the blast to inform the police and to also report any unusual movement in their areas for prompt action.”

“People have been collaborating with the police and the information we received from them had given us enormous results," Atari added.

Speaking on the incident, the Red Cross secretary for the state, Abubakar Yakubu Gome said:

“There was an explosion at the Dukku motor park. The Red Cross mobilised with 20 body bags and they have all been exhausted. We are still looking for more bodies among the carnage.”

The bomb was said to have been placed near a parked bus which was picking up passengers.
