The officers raided the home of the Senator, who represents Gombe central, following a supposed tip-off from an anonymous source, according to The Cable.
“Our men were there for between four and five hours and they carried out a thorough search,” a source said.
The operation was initially credited to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) but the agency denied being behind the search.
The EFCC is still in the news over the recent recovery of about $50 million in cash from a luxury flat in Ikoyi, Lagos.
The funds, which were recovered on Wednesday, April 12, were claimed by the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) which said that it received the money for “covert operations” during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
The controversy has led to the suspension of NIA DG, Ayo Oke pending the outcome of investigations into the find.
