‘We’ll defeat terrorists by December,’ Army spokesperson says

President Muhammadu Buhari has given the country’s military a deadline of three months to end the insurgency.

 

The spokesperson for Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Colonel Rabe Abubakar has said that the country’s army will defeat Boko Haram by December 2015.

President Muhammadu Buhari has given the country’s military a deadline of three months to end the insurgency.

Abubakar gave the assurance on Thursday, August 28, 2015, while meeting with the editorial team of Media Trust Limited in Abuja.

He said:

“We are on course, to meet the deadline given to us by President Buhari, with the active collaboration of the Chief of Defense Staff and other Service Chiefs, the insurgency will definitely be over before the deadline or at worst on the deadline.”

“We will maintain that level of momentum; we are not going to fail Nigerians,” noting that: “I believe the activities of Boko Haram will very soon be a thing of the past.”

Buhari gave the deadline while swearing Nigeria’s new service chiefs.
