Jigawa government confirms disease cases, 5000 birds killed

This was disclosed by the Veterinary Service Director of the state’s Ministry of Agriculture, Abdullahi Birniwa.

The Jigawa State Government has said that it has recorded three cases of bird flu in the state.

This was disclosed by the Veterinary Service Director of the state’s Ministry of Agriculture, Abdullahi Birniwa.

Birniwa also said, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), that 5,000 birds, including turkeys, ducks, chickens and geese had been culled as a result of the outbreak.

He also said that the disease cases were discovered in three different farms in the Hadejia, Taura and Dutse Local Government Areas of the state and that all the affected farms had been sprayed with disinfectant to prevent a further spread.

The first cases of bird flu this year were discovered in Lagos and Kano and have now spread to 17 states in the country.
