The Senate committee headed by Senator Shehu Sani had indicted Lawal in the award of contracts in the region to the tune of N200 million.

Senate invitation to Lawal was to provide him an opportunity to explain his role in the alleged mismanagement of funds for the development of the region.

Lawal who was suspended by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, is also being investigated by a three-man investigative panel headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
