How SGF allegedly got N200m bribe from contract awarded by him

The SGF allegedly received N200m bribe from Josmon Technologies Ltd, a company he gave contract to clear grass in Yobe state.

According to Rholavision’s bank statements obtained by The Cable, the sum of N200m was paid into the company's account by  Josmon Technologies Ltd, the company awarded the contract to clear "invasive plant species" in Yobe state.

Josmon Technologies got the contract  to clear grass for N248, 939, 231, from the Presidential Initiative on Northeast (PINE), which was under Lawal.

The contractor made cash deposits of N10m into Lawal’s company’s account 20 times from March 29, according to the obtained documents.

Investigators believe the suspicious payments were bribes.

However, in his reaction to a call for his resignation by the Senate on Wednesday, December 14, the SGF distanced himself from his company, claiming he resigned from the company on August 15, 2015.

But according to a Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) document obtained by The Cable, Lawal was a director of Rholavision until September 16, 2016, when he wrote to the commission informing it of his intention to relinquish 1, 500, 000 ordinary shares.

The senate had demanded Lawal's resignation over alleged corruption in the management of funds for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the northeast.

PINE, under Lawal, allegedly misappropriated N2.5billion allocated to it for the alleviation of the suffering of IDPs.

In October, PINE and the Safe Schools Initiative (SSI) were collapsed into the Presidential Committee on Northeast Initiative (PCNI), and it was placed under the supervision of Theophilus Danjuma, a retired general.
