One person was killed, according to the Nigerian Army, when Boko Haram terrorists carried out an attack in Kofa village and Dalori internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Borno State on Wednesday, October 31, 2018.

According to a brief statement by the Army, the attack took place around 10 pm on Wednesday after terrorists gained access through a bush path behind the village in 4 vehicles and some motorcycles.

"They ransacked the market in front of the IDP camp," the statement read.

The Army further said that the attack was foiled by troops of 251 Task Force Battalion, but not before the terrorists set some houses and the market on fire and fled along the Maiduguri-Bama Road.

8 killed in Kofa, IDP camp - NEMA

In contrast to the Army's statement, the  North East Zonal Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Bashir Garga, disclosed that a total of eight people were killed in Kofa and the Dalori IDP camp.

The terrorists also carried out attacks in Mallumti, Ngomari, and Gozari villages, all in the vicinity of Dalori IDP camp.

"Six people from Kofa village were killed as a result of suspected Boko Haram terrorists that attacked four villages in the outskirts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

"Many villagers fled to the Dalori IDPs camp which led to an attack on the camp vicinity that claimed the lives of two IDPs making a total of eight people dead."

Garga also disclosed that the villagers who ran into the bush for safety have returned to their homes while the Borno State Fire Service has contained the inferno.
