FG reopens Nnamdi Azikiwe Int’l Airport

An Ethiopian airline landed on the rehabilitated Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport moments after its reopening.

The Abuja airport was closed March 8, at 12:00am to allow for the reconstruction of its 34-year-old runway.

Addressing journalists at the Abuja airport, the minister of state for aviation, Hadi Sirika expressed satisfaction that the facility was ready before the deadline of Wednesday, April 19.

“Abuja runway 100% completed and certified by . Consequently, the airport is open for operations. Thank u,” Sirika said.

“Runway friction test, the final activity, concluded. Just landed on the runway, everything is perfect. We beat the deadline. We thank you,”  he concluded.

Subsequently, an Ethiopian airline landed on the rehabilitated Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport moments after its reopening.

The brand new Airbus A350-900 was on a test flight from Kaduna international airport.

Sirika, minister of state for aviation, was said to be on board the aircraft.

Meanwhile, Medview airlines has released a schedule with six daily flights to the nation’s capital, Abuja.
