13 passengers die in auto crash on Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway

Thirteen passengers have been killed in an road traffic crash in Enugu state.

According to the Abia Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mrs Stella Uchegbu, who confirmed the accident, the incident occurred on May 22, 2016.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Umuahia, she said a man and woman survived.

She added that the seriously injured victims had been taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, where they were receiving the treatment for a sustained spinal cord injury with paraplegia, fractured ribs, and dislocation.

Mrs Uchegbu urged motorists to drive carefully, as the accident had occurred, especially during the rainy season.

The deceased passengers include nine men, three women and a little girl.
