In light of this well known fact, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) is advising motorists to reduce their chances of getting involved in accidents by obeying traffic laws, Nigerian Newspapers reports.

According to the FRSC Sector Commander in Enugu State, Mr David Mendie, obeying traffic rules and observing the road signs would ensure the safety of road users.

During the interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu, he also appealed to pedestrians to use the bridges, and lanes, rather than crossing the road.

"Pedestrians are advised to stick to the pedestrian lane, walk against coming vehicles and always use the pedestrian bridge.

Nigerians should always draw the attention of FRSC officials whenever they notice any reckless driving,” he said.
