'4,272 traffic offenders were arrested from August to December 2015', says Police

The Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) is revealing the records of last year.

PM News reports that 4,272 traffic offenders were arrested from August to December 2015.

According to a Superintendent of the Police, and Chairman, Lagos Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, Olubukola Abe, 4,430 motorcycles were also impounded.

“Within the period of August to December 2015, we impounded and confiscated 4,430 motorcycles for breach of traffic rules. We also contravened and ticketed 201 vehicles. During the same period, we arrested 4,272 miscreants out of which 4,200 were charged to court and 3,178 convicted."

He went to commend his team's efforts towards keeping the streets of Lagos free of traffic robbers, adding that 15 officers were seriously injured, while some of the agency’s operational vehicles were out of commission, due to severe damages.

The above arrests were made in Tejuosho Market, its environs, Oshodi, Ikorodu/Mile 12 axis and others.
