Who Is Alicia Keys' Husband, Swizz Beatz?

Alicia Keys is known for her impressive musical talent (she's won 15 Grammys!) and timeless hits, from her 2001 classic, "Fallin" to her most recent bop "Show Me Love." But she's not the only musical genius in her household.

Who Is Alicia Keys' Husband? Meet Swizz Beatz

Meet Alicia Keys' husband, Swizz Beatz, American DJ, record producer, songwriter and businessman (sheesh). If you've listened to a top hits radio station at some point in your life, then you've probably heard his work, if not belted it out in your car. Swizz has worked with legends like Beyonce, Whitney Houston, and Drake.

But the number-one artist in his life is his wife and best friend Alicia Keys. Here's everything you need to know about Swizz, his music, and how he captured the heart of the one of America's favorite R&B musicians.

He was actually born as Kasseem Dean in the Bronx, New York. He started his career as a disc jockey after his family moved to Atlanta when he was 15 years old. He adopted the stage name Swizz Beatz from the K-Swiss sneakers he wore as a teenager, according to Forbes. Since then Swizz's name and career have become a topic of conversation for both hip-hop fans and businessmen alike.

Swizz's career officially took off after artist DMX purchased a sample from him that would become the hit song, "Ruff Ryders Anthem." Swizz went on to work with Whitney Houston on "Million Dollar Bill" and Beyonc on her B'Day album hits, "Get Me Bodied," "Upgrade U," "Ring the Alarm," and "Lost Yo Mind.".

But Swizz is not only a producer. He has his own discography, including his solo debut album One Man Band Man and most recent 2018 album, Poison.

Swizzs work has earned six Grammy nominations . The collaboration that earned him the Grammy title of Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group was his 2009 hit with Jay-Z, "On To The Next One."

In a 2013 interview with talk show host Wendy Williams , Alicia Keys opened up about her marriage to Swizz. It turns out the two first met when Alicia was 16 and Swizz was 17 years old.

"A friend of ours that went to his high school was like, 'Oh you gotta meet Swizz, and Alicias about to blow up and Swizz is doing his thing and maybe one day youll work together,'" she told Wendy. But the two were just friends.

"Honestly, I didn't really like him that much. I thought he was too ostentatious," she told Marie Claire UK, per E! News . "Swizz will have the fastest car, the biggest jewelry, the loudest jacket. Everything with him is really over the top. I used to see him and think, 'He is so annoying.'"

But when the singer finally gave in to working with the producer, there was an instant connection. "I fought it tooth and nail. Why should I work with him? Finally, though, we did it and we had a ball," Alicia said.

"I think what happened was, he really got me when I saw how far his mind went," Alicia said on Wendy Williams . "Hes really, really intelligent and knows so many interesting things." But the sweetest quote is this one right here: "I think that he loves to live life and he really showed me how to live life in a beautiful way," Alicia said.

In July 2010, Alicia and Swizz solidified their role as a power couple during a beautiful ceremony on the Mediterranean Sea. Alicia was pregnant at the time their first child, Egypt Daoud Dean, born October of that year. Their second son, Genesis Ali Dean, was born a few years later in December, 2014.

But the two have also made it point to create a blended family between their sons and Swizz's children from previous relationships. The producer has an 11-year-old son, Kasseem KJ Dean, with ex-wife, Mashonda Tifrere, as well as an 18-year-old son, Prince Nasir Dean with Nicole Levy and a daughter Nicole Dean, with Jahna Sebastian.

So much so, that he named his son after the rapper. "My son's name is Nasir because of this man right here," Beatz said at the 2nd Annual VIBE Impact Awards. "I just wanted to be able to look at greatness everyday beyond music with my son, so I thought that was the name that was amazing."

In 2014, Swizz added another accomplishment to his resume after getting accepted to and graduating from Harvard Business School's Owner/President Management executive program. Swizz shared a throwback photo of himself during his childhood graduation, reflecting on what this new degree means to him.

"Today I will become Harvard alumni and although I'm not getting an 'MBA' no one can EVER take this accomplishment away from me I was suppose to be gone a long time ago according to some of my old teachers :) This one is for you! Blessings! Never shoot people's dreams down because you don't have your own!!!!" Swizz wrote in an Instagram post.

But that wasn't the end of his Ivy League journey. The grad and his wifey returned to his alma mater in November 2019 to present a case study done on them. Alicia celebrated the moment with a sweet instagram post, captioning the photo, "Friday was a powerful day. My baby @therealswizzz and I presented our case study on our lives and business at @HarvardHBS ," She also went on to say, "It was fascinating seeing our lives on a chalk board. At Harvard. Being used as a case study for success " and encouraged her fans that anything is possible.

Looks like the love between Swizz and Alicia isn't going anywhere, especially since he has the singer's face tattooed on his arm.

This might sound strange but, I think the favorite gift he ever got me (was) he got a tattoo of me on his arm. Of my face. He hid it. Its so beautiful. He mixed it with some of his favorite artistsIts so pretty, Alicia told Wendy Williams in their interview.

Swizz was the first Global Ambassador for New York City's Health and Hospitals Corporation. He frequently performs and fundraises for amazing charities within the organization including the American Cancer Society, Boost Mobile RockCorps , and the Bronx Charter School for the Arts. Swizz is also super involved in a charity his wife co-founded called the Keep A Child Alive foundation which is committed to HIV Aids treatment, prevention and fundraising in Africa and India. Not to mention, he and Alicia also like to spontaneously help me. Earlier this month the power couple decided to give $20,000 to a Washington Heights cheerleading team so that they could go UCA Nationals, in Orlando Florida after seeing their GoFundMe detailing their struggles, according to The Source (uhh, these two!).
