Thailand is battling with an excessive number of tourists in some of its idyllic islands, and to preserve these destinations, the country is putting an end to visitors to these areas.
Thailand closes 3 more of its islands to tourists because of "excessive tourism"
Reports say beaches which can comfortably accommodate 70 people have been swarming with as many as 1,000 tourists at a time.
Global News reports that the Thai government shut down 3 of its islands - Koh Khai Nok, Koh Khai Nui and Koh Khai Nai to all visitors.as a result of “excessive tourism.”
Also, sun chairs, umbrellas, food stalls, and tour boats have overcrowded the islands, leading to “the degradation of natural resources and the environment.”
Furthermore, boat anchors, swimmers, and snorkelers have destroyed as much as 80% of the area’s reefs.
It would be recalled that earlier in the month, Thailand announced the closureof Koh Tachai island indefinitely due to the same excessive tourism.
If you're still looking to visit Thailand though not to worry, as the country still has dozens of picturesque beaches and sites.
