How much it costs to create TikTok's viral ceiling clouds

Since 2020, TikTokers have been putting a spooky twist on the viral cloud-wall trend, creating ceiling clouds that light up in an array of colours. After a quick trip to the DIY crafts section, the finished result is a magical home movie-watching experience and the perfect storm.

To get started with your DIY cloud ceiling, the basic materials you'll need include:

  1. LED lights (Shs50,000)
  2. Enough poster board or paper to cover your ceiling (about Shs20,000 @)
  3. Copious amounts of hot glue (Shs90,000).
  4. Multiple bags of synthetic stuffing (Shs60,000).

Some TikTokers recommend adhering the poster board or paper to the ceiling with a spray adhesive (Shs60,000), however, double-sided tape (Shs40,000) and adhesive hanging strips work just as well.

Once you've laid down the foundation, stick the LED lights to the poster boards on the ceiling in the pattern of your choice, cover them in the synthetic stuffing, and that's it!

The project can take up to 12 hours, but it was definitely worth it in the end.

There is one downfall to this enchanted cloud ceiling: spiders. The lights tend to attract bugs, while the fluff makes for a perfect hiding place for crawlers. But proper maintenance, regular dusting and cleaning, can help minimize the presence of tiny intruders.

Regular cleaning can also help reduce the risk of potential fire hazards, but taking extra precautions, like avoiding flickering candles and fireplaces, can also be helpful.
