Auctioned theme park memorabilia raises over $8.3million

The auction which started out as a pop-up just for the people in Sherman Oaks, California to enjoy. Due to the massive turn-out, it escalated into a two-day auction of over 900 items at Van Eaton Galleries with tens of thousands of people in attendance.

Speaking to Forbes on the collection by Hollywood agent, Richard Kraft
“When I finally decided to let it go it became much more about throwing a grand Bon Voyage party to those magical artifacts than about making projections about their worth. As the flood of astronomical bids came in, it made me think how these treasures were now securing the financial future of my children and allowing me to contribute towards other kids, like my daughter with special needs.” Kraft explained.
Disneyland memorabilia had notable record sales
The auction themed "That’s From Disneyland" notable sales are an original Skyway vehicle sold for a record price for a Disneyland ride vehicle- $621,000; a Dumbo attraction vehicle sold for $483,000; an original Haunted Mansion stretching portrait sold for $402,500 and a Haunted Mansion Doom Buggy attraction vehicle sold for $220,400.
Among the celebrity bidders was Magician, David Copperfield who bought the Disneyland Hotel Neon Letter “D” for $86,250. He said he bought the letter because his family oftren stayed there and that was where he got inspired to become a magician.
Other notable items sold for mouth-watering prices include a Swiss Family Treehouse organ pro sold for $63,250; Jose animatronic bird from The Tiki Room sold for $425,500; a Peter Pan attraction vehicle sold for $253,000 and the Pirates of the Caribbean entryway sign sold for the highest amount ever paid for a Disneyland park sign, $264,500.
Part of the proceeds made from the auction will go to the Coffin-Siris Syndrome Foundation and the CHIME Institute.
