Building on the success of the inaugural event last year, this exclusive gathering will once again bring together some of Africa's most distinguished personalities in business, entertainment, and public service.

The EMY Africa Awards, now in its ninth year, honours men who have demonstrated exemplary values, distinguished themselves in their respective fields, and shown a deep commitment to societal progress. The awards also recognise women who have made significant impacts on society. Over the years, the EMY Africa Awards have celebrated countless achievers across various sectors, elevating their contributions and shining a spotlight on their inspirational journeys.

Notable Nigerians who have been honoured at the EMY Africa Awards include; Akinwumi Adesina, Tony Elumelu, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Adebola Williams, Lanre Olusola, Seyi Tinubu, Ayo Animashaun, Micheal Collins Ajereh (Don Jazzy), Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and Ayo Makun. Last year’s event saw four distinguished Nigerians receiving accolades: Olugbenga Agboola (Man of the Year – Technology), Chief Dele Momodu (Special Recognition Award), Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade (Mr Eazi) (Young Achiever – Male), and Tajudeen Adepetu (Media Excellence Award).

The 2023 EMY Africa Soiree, held in partnership with Mercedes-Benz Nigeria, marked the event’s first foray into Lagos, and it was a resounding success. The soiree brought together past winners from Nigeria and Ghana and top players in business and entertainment. This year’s edition promises to be even more impactful, featuring the assembly of some of the most inspirational personalities in Africa and the announcement of competitive award nominations for the 9th EMY Africa Awards.

EMY Africa's journey in 2024 has been transformative, marked by significant milestones and innovative projects that further its mission of celebrating African excellence.

In April, EMY Africa hosted an exclusive Awards Issue Release Party at the 2023 Man of the Year office, Alex Dadey, at KGL House. This event celebrated the achievements of the 2023 honorees and marked the official launch of the Awards Issue of the EMY Africa Magazine, featuring in-depth profiles of the award winners.

In May, EMY Africa was honoured to host legendary musician Stevie Wonder during his visit to Ghana. This historic occasion, part of Stevie Wonder’s commitment to reconnect with Africa, celebrated his extraordinary contributions to music and culture. It underscored EMY Africa’s growing influence in bridging the gap between Africa and its diaspora.

June saw the successful launch of the inaugural EMY Africa Expo, a three-day event that attracted over 6,000 participants. Over 80 vendors showcased products and services, and side events like the Inspiring Greatness Forum and Live in the Park Concert furthered EMY Africa’s mission of promoting African businesses on a global stage.

In July, EMY Africa made a powerful impact in London with the Africa Rising Symposium and London Soirée. These events brought together thought leaders, innovators, and distinguished personalities across Africa and the diaspora to celebrate African excellence and discuss the continent’s future growth opportunities.

In his speech at a media Soiree held on the 23 August, Kojo Soboh, founder of EMY Africa mentioned important dates for the event this year stating;

“As we move into the latter part of the year, EMY Africa remains focused on celebrating African excellence and promoting leadership within Ghana and the African community. The 9th EMY Africa Awards, scheduled for October 26, 2024, promises to be an even more expansive and impactful event this year.
