is an exploration of some of the less frequently discussed things that “colour” men and make them what they are. It is very loosely inspired by the play by Ntozake Shange and it is based on a series of monologues written by young Nigerian male bloggers who take on colors that represent different traits that may cause a man to be ‘colored’ a particular way by society.

The play, which was adapted for stage by award-winning writers, Ikenna Jude OkpalaOluwole Talabi and Pemi Agude, stars Deyemi OkanlawonTimi Charles-FadipeToju EjohSeun KentebeOla-Rotimi Fakunle and Simi Hassan. It is directed by Najite Dede and produced by Lydia Idakula Sobogun.

In the words of Olawale Adetula, Founder and Online Editor of The Naked Convos, “Colour Me Man aims to express, explore and expose many of the circumstances, struggles, experiences, quirks and obstacles that several groups of Nigerian men face throughout their lives. The monologues deal with wealth, family, health, love, sex, religion and much more… embodied by each man’s colour and told in his own way“.
