RMD, Rita Dominic, Kate Henshaw, others attend Day 1

The 2016 Africa International Film Festival kicked off yesterday at Filmhouse IMAX, Lekki with Nate Parker's "Birth of a Nation."

The annual Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) kicked off its sixth edition at Filmhouse IMAX, Lekki on Sunday, November 13, 2016.

Nate Parker's "Birth of a Nation" was screened on the opening night of the film festival with lots of notable Nigerian and foreign celebrities in attendance.

Celebrities spotted at the event include Lai Mohammed, Richard Mofe Damijo, Kunle Afolayan, Kate Henshaw, Rita Dominic, OC Ukeje, Lala 'Kemi' Akindoju, Uru Eke, Chioma Ude and Kiki Omeili.

Seun Ajayi , James Omokwe, Hilda Dokubo, Michelle Dede, Adesua Etomi, Jay Franklyn Jituboh, Baaj Adebule, Falz, Chike Okonkwo, Moses Babatope, Debola Williams, Patrick Doyle, Tope Oshin, Kene Mkparu among others were also in attendance.

Other movies which would screen during the festival includes "93 Days" (Nigeria) by Steve Gukas,"The CEO" (Nigeria) by Kunle Afolayan, "Vaya"  (South Africa) by Akin Omotoso, "The Cursed Ones" (U.K) by Nana Obiri, "The Wedding Ring" ( Niger) by Rahmatou Keita,"Kati Kati" (Kenya) by Mbithi Masya,"If Tomorrow Never Comes" (Ghana) by Pascal Amanfo and "Remember Me" (Nigeria) by Izu Ojukwu.

Izu Ojukwu's "76" will close the festival on Friday, November 18, 2016 at FilmhouseIMAX Cinema, Lekki, Lagos. There would be a Festival Party at Boat Club, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, by 10pm.

The 2016 AFRIFF Globe Awards will hold on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.
